This page will help you understand some of the proffesional weather terms used and show simple diagrams of Weather Fronts.

Basics

High pressure is an area where atmospheric pressure is larger than other surrounding areas. The letter "H" is used to represent an area of High pressure.

Low pressure is an area where atmospheric pressure is lower compared to the other surrounding areas. The letter "L" is used to represent the Center of a Low pressure, it is often refered to as just a "Low".
